100 years ago, [[The Tower]] didn't exist. Although there are few records from back then, and even fewer people still alive, this is something all evidence points towards. There also weren't any [[Classes]], although magic still existed, and spells could be cast. It is unknown whether the two appearing were directly related, but most people believe they are. This record, though, is not about what was before, or even shortly after [[The Tower|The Tower's]] appearance. It is about what happened 20 years later, and how it shaped the world into what we know it as now. After 20 years, society had adapted, learning how to generate classes and climb floors. Much was still unknown, but people knew that the higher floors were dangerous, and very few dared brave the danger. The few who did are now referred to as [[The Heralds]], for showing society how [[The Tower]] could improve life, but also because they were the first sign of the upcoming calamity. Heralds back then were viewed with disdain, fools with more courage than sense, pursuing meagre gains at incredible risk. This is mainly because the 6th floor was virtually impossible at the time, without the presence of a permanent guardian to keep the floor from overloading. However, [[The Heralds]] managed to progress to the 7th floor, although it is believed they did not actually clear the 6th at the time, as others reported no change in the amount of monsters there. They did not stop here, and kept climbing till at least the 10th floor, at which point some decided to return, wanting to live a life of luxury on the outside. The first sign of [[The Heralds]] return was when the 6th floor got its routinely check, only for people to see everything being annihilated and immediately report back. It was agreed that all high level tower climbers would retreat to [[Floor 3]] and ask the descending [[The Heralds|Heralds]] what their intentions were. Although many felt this was an unnecessary amount of caution, anyone who had previously seen floor 6 agreed it was for the best. When the two groups met, [[The Heralds]] were friendly, willing to agree to some demands to be allowed to descend without issue, and having few of their own. Most of the demands were simply wanting to rule land, such as [[Arlo]] asking for an island, or a few wanting to establish cities near the tower. This continued for a few months, the cities they established flourishing, swiftly being built and expanded due to the power of their owners. Wyveria was the largest of the tower cities, as the ruler, Alice, was able to summon many drakes and wyverns capable of transporting large amounts of material. One day during this period of expansion, scouts reported back that the 6th floor was being converted into undead, with some saying they had spotted humans within the swarms of undead monsters. The days this message gave us to prepare, due to the [[Mana|Miasma Acclimation]] period, may be the only reason it is Western Celestia that is scorched, rather than all three continents. The returned [[The Heralds|Heralds]] heard this message and suspected it was "The Cursed Trio", a group known for their ability to wipe out large groups of monsters due to their focus on spreading disease and curses, yet also known for their vile acts. [[The Tower]] was evacuated as much as possible in preparation, only the strongest entering and preparing on the 2nd floor to meet the Cursed Trio. Not much is known about the battle, other than it resulted in the trio fleeing down a floor, and then using some form of status removal to go down again, leaving the tower, without suffering [[Mana|Miasma Poisoning]]. [[The Heralds]] realised that they would exit in Celestia, and helped to buff and then bring the strongest of the Celestian Climbers out of the Tower. Arlon, in particular, managed to take Alice's [[Mana|Miasma Poisoning]] onto himself, allowing her to fight at full strength. This is as much as is known about the events, other than that a huge rush of fire was spotted in Wyveria from all three continents, and that the area surrounding there is now a desert, rather than the lush forests that used to be there. People have also found blackened bones in the area, identified as belonging to [[The Heralds]] who had died in the fire, although the bones were unable to be damaged even by the other [[The Heralds|Heralds]] It is hypothesised Alice sacrificed herself and wyverns in one big explosion to prevent the trio from spreading curses to the whole world, although many still hate her due to the extreme amount of casualties she caused. The bones of [[The Heralds]] were sent to oblivion, where they are continuously covered in more and more ice, due to the fear some form of necromancer would gain access to them and cause another cataclsym. It has since become custom to send the bones of powerful climbers to oblivion, both as a sign of respect and due to fear of them landing in the wrong hands.
